Make an Impact - Share Your Story

Trans Adults, allies, parents of trans young people, anyone invested in quality health care -- your stories are needed ASAP and you can submit them via email. Push back on the Trump Administration’s latest attempt to restrict access to health care for transgender young people. Consider these tips and ideas while crafting your story:

  • Stay Anonymous: Don't include names, specific providers, or clinic locations. Be generic.

  • Be General: Describe your community type (e.g., rural, urban, coastal, midwest) and general age (e.g., "under 18" or young adult or middle age) rather than specific details.

  • Focus on Outcomes: Instead of private clinical details, describe how accessing (or losing) care impacts your family’s life, future, well-being.

Need Ideas to get started? Consider these prompts:

  • What does receiving this care mean for living authentically?

  • How has the threat of losing access affected you or your loved one?

  • What barriers do you already face?

  • Why should healthcare decisions remain between patients and doctors?

Fair Wisconsin has made submitting your story very easy; email it to testimony@fairwisconsin.com and Fair Wisconsin will include it in their organizational testimony. Please include your story in the body of the email, not as an attachment. Fair Wisconsin will store contributions in a password-protected drive accessed only by their staff.

When sharing your story with Fair Wisconsin, please indicate in writing whether you consent for your story to be used only for this particular effort, or if you give permission to have it used to respond to other anti-trans actions this administration might take in the future.

For more info, guidance, clarifications, suggestions, or with questions, please do not hesitate to contact abigail.swetz@fairwisconsin.com

One last thing, thank you. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in drafting your story; thank you for using your story to help make change; thank you for being you. All of us at Fair Wisconsin and the entire LGBTQ+ movement are grateful for you.
